The distinguished honor of Fellow of ASTRO (FASTRO) is bestowed upon very few ASTRO members in a competitive process and in recognition of contributions to the field of radiation oncology and exceptional service to ASTRO.  Dr. Lo has published 178 peer reviewed manuscripts, 12 national practice guidelines for brain cancer, spine cancer and radiosurgery, 4 textbooks in brain and spine tumors and radiosurgery, and 55 book chapters, conducted over 30  trials, and served on numerous committees and task forces of various radiation oncology and neurosurgical professional organizations.  He is currently the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Refresher Course Radiation Oncology Track Co-chair and the President-Elect of the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology of the American College of Radiology, of which he is also an elected Fellow.

With Dr. Lo’s appointment as ASTRO Fellow, the number of FASTRO’s in the UW School of Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology will increase to three:

Dr. George Laramore, ASTRO Fellow Class of 2007

Dr. Simon S. Lo, ASTRO Fellow Class of 2017

Dr. Nina A. Mayr, ASTRO Fellow Class of 2011

We are proud of this extraordinary distinction for Dr. Lo, the UW SOM Radiation Oncology and UW Medicine!
