Overview

Dr. R. Alex Hsi is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist who received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1991.  He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan followed by a residency in Radiation Oncology at The University of Pennsylvania.  He has served as an Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, Section Chief in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, and Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Center of Seattle.  He is also Co-founder of the Peninsula Cancer Center in Poulsbo, Washington.  He serves as the President of the Board of the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation.

Dr. Hsi has performed over a thousand prostate seed brachytherapy procedures since 1997.  In addition to prostate brachytherapy, Dr. Hsi’s areas of interest include stereotactic radiation therapy for prostate and lung cancer and photodynamic therapy.  Dr. Hsi is the recipient of several peer-reviewed grants and has served as principal investigator of multiple clinical trials involving prostate cancer research.

Patient Care Philosophy

Radiation Oncology is a challenging and rewarding field. In the modern era of scientific, technology-oriented medicine, it’s vital that we, as physicians, also remember to practice the art of medicine by perfecting our listening skills and working to understand all of our patient’s needs.
