Physics Resident Dr. Afua Yorke receives an AAPM Microgrant

University of Washington’s contributions and support efforts in Global Radiotherapy has resulted in an AAPM Microgrant to support a visiting scholar from the Komfo-Anokye Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. Dr. Afua Yorke, a medical physics resident, was awarded the funding to facilitate and advise the KATH team to safely implement an SBRT and hypo-fractionation program for safe treatment of cancer patients traveling great distances from the surrounding towns. The visiting scholar will spend six weeks in the department working on their research “Clinical Implementation of Body Radiation Therapy Program in Radiotherapy Facility in a LMIC Using a Locally Designed Phantom,” as well as gaining a diverse clinical experience from the UW physics team to support their efforts.
