Dr. Simon Lo Appointed as the SBRT Program Lead in Radiation Oncology

Congratulations to Dr. Simon Lo for his role as Lead of the Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) Program in the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Lo is Professor of Radiation Oncology and has outstanding leadership and broad clinical expertise in all aspects of stereotactic radiation therapy. He previously served as the director of the SBRT programs in the Cancer Centers at both Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University.  He established one of the first SBRT programs in the state of Ohio.  He is the co-founder for the International Consortia for Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Renal Cell Carcinoma and Head and Neck Cancer, respectively and has participated in or led international/ national practice guidelines in brain, oligometastases, bone and spinal metastases as well as stereotactic body radiotherapy for lung cancer by the American Society for Radiation Oncology and American College of Radiology.  Dr. Lo has published extensively in the area of SBRT, including highly ranked journals as Science Translational Medicine, Lancet Oncology, Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology and Nature Reviews Urology.  His flagship textbook Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy has had over 42,000 chapter downloads since 2012.

 

In Dr. Lo’s SBRT leadership role, he will continue to move our SBRT program forward with further growth and innovations;  serve as a resource to dosimetrists, physicists, therapists, physicians and other members of our team in SBRT, and continue to inspire education and research in this area.
